Working life....
Yes, I absolutely LOATH it. I think its just my job man!
Survival tips for interns..
1. MP3/iPod. They are the only thing that will keep you sane in the office. Occasional headbanging would just look normal in the office as everyone ACTUALLY wants to hit their heads on the wall.
2. Ability to lie. Absolutely crucial in your survival. Interns get thrown all kind of work. You need the skills to pretend to be doing work. Open an excel, put on a serious face and type away on the office communicator or, like me, write a post! Occasionally look a bit lost and you'll be fine...
3. Constant vigilance! Got that from Harry Potter but its true! You don't want some manager or strict senior coming to you and catching you doing something else other than work! Ain't cool! You'll just get a nice lecture.
4. Ability to space out/pretend to be listening. When you DO get a lecture, space out and pretend to absolutely understand what the manager or senior is trying to tell you but in fact you are thinking about what to have for lunch...
5. Creativity. This is to come up with all kinds of excuses to go home early/take emergency leave/have long lunch. Example, "Its Chap Goh Meh! I have to go home early because there is a family dinner" or "I've got a family emergency. Grandpa admitted to the hospital" (both my grandfathers are dead by the way) or "The food came late"..
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the survival in KPMG...
