The Job - Task 1 (Fly FM)

Task 1 - Fly FM
Day One

As some of you might have known, I got myself into a reality show on 8TV a couple of months back. The Job. Basically the show is something like The Apprentice but without the elimination process and each week contestants are awarded with hires. It is our goal to collect as many hires along the entire competition with each employees we work with each week.

First day of shooting for The Job as well as the first task, super excited! When I arrived at the Sri Pentas lobby, met the remaining 2 contestants, Thoriq and Jasmine. The rest I have met during a briefing session held by the producers.

Anyways, after waiting for production to set up things, we were told our teammates for the first task. Jasmine, Emmy, Ismail and Jason were Team A, Reshma, Zarith, Thoriq and I were on Team B.

Our employee of the week was Fly FM. We were kinda told beforehand on thus we all met at Sri Pentas. Then our task was revealed. We were supposed to produce a 30 seconds public service announcement for Fly FM. The topics given were HIV AIDS, Drunk Driving and Domestic Violence. Our guest judge was Adam Zain, Program Director for Fly FM. As we have absolutely no knowledge in broadcasting, we were given help from Fauzi (I think that’s how you spell his name).

It was decided in our team that Thoriq was to be team leader as he had the experience in this field. Immediately we chose a topic which was Domestic Violence, came up with a script and suggested it to Fauzi when we had the short meeting with him on a crash course on broadcasting. Got out idea and we all agreed and that was the end of day one.

Day Two
Today is production day! In the morning, we were given an hour to record our PSA! I was crazy excited. Went in and recorded our voices. Damn was it the weirdest thing ever to be in a total silent room but it was an interesting experience nevertheless. Had our lunch and then it was off to editing what we had recorded earlier. Ester, our editor, was doing her magic with the sound effects and stuff. Adam was always around to check on us during the discussion with Fauzi the previous day, during recording and also when we were editing.

Honestly, I wasn’t really satisfied with what we had in the end. It was a bit messy in my opinion. I mentioned it once but the others were fine with it. So I decided, well ok, no point arguing now and we only have one hour to edit and we were already short on time. Arguing will only make things worse. Shut my mouth and didn’t know that that will come back and bite me in the ass…

Day Three
The next day, during judging Adam actually mentioned that. Damn these people are observant. In the end our team lost but then Zarith got a job offer. The other team won and Jasmine and Jason got the job offer.

Then our next task was revealed! It was another PSA! But this time it will be for 8TV. So it is a video PSA on environmentalism in collaboration with Earth Day. Our teams were revealed as well. Janice, Reshma, Ismail and Jason was Team A and Zarith, Emmy, Jasmine and Thoriq was Team B.

At that moment I had a feeling that there was a reason my name was called first and true enough, I was team leader for this task and Zarith for Team B.

Shit! I didn’t expect to be a team leader so soon! And some more it is for an industry that I have absolutely no clue! Damn it’s going to be interesting…

Dear hackers....

This morning I woke up and like any other day I open the same 3 tabs on Chrome, Facebook, Hotmail and Twitter ( and sometimes Youtube).

So as the Hotmail page loaded, bloody hell I saw that there were some "failure to sent" email messages in my inbox. I knew that there was something wrong and sure enough a friend informed me that my email was sending out a freaking spam.

Since I was going out I left it as it is...

When I got back, I decided to tackle the problem. My email is my lifeline. Everyone has that email! Past employers especially! Important ya know????

I logged in to my Hotmail and there was this message that appeared saying that my account has been blocked because there was a spam message going out. I followed the steps to unblock my account and there was one step where you had to re-enter your current password and create a new one.

I did that again and again and I was sooooooo freaking sure that the things I typed was correct. I even typed one letter at a time and the message saying "Password Incorrect".

I was at the point where I was swearing at the computer screen. Then I did what any sensible person will do today.

Google.

Sure enough, I got part of my problem solved. Apparently, even the "Your account has been blocked" page is fake and it was a hacker. What I did was opened Mozilla, load the sign in page and there was this "Can't access your account" link. Clicked on it, filled in a customer support form thingy, reset my password and....

VOILA~

Email's back in action. Immediately made some long ass password.

Seriously, hackers, why in the freaking world would you want to hack a person like me? Go hack someone else like what those people did for SOPA. Make yourselves useful damn it!

Breakfast addiction

I absolutely LOVE breakfast! There is only one small problem...

I never manage to wake up for them. By the time I am up, I'll be having lunch instead or maybe brunch. If I do wake up early, I'm probably rushing off somewhere and I'll just have a quick bite...

Recently (due to my substantial amount of time spent at home) I have been craving for pancakes. Yeah, I still haven't gotten any since the last time I complained about it.

SO, last night before bed, I wanted to wake up early and make Chocolate French Toasts. Sounds good doesn't it? But then look at it this way, people complain about me cooking peanut butter and eggs but no one complains about chocolate and eggs??? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS???

Anyway, I DID wake up early. The weather was just mean because it was raining and it was the best ever weather where you just wanna stay under the sheets and never get out. My brain, on the other hand, is telling me, "You want fooooooooooood"

So I got up at 8.30am and it was gloomy. The sky was dark and I was so reluctant to get out of  bed. Then when I got downstairs and heated up the pan, it started pouring!

I don't like cooking in the rain. You can't hear whether the food is sizzling or not! Nevetheless, I went on cooking, all for the love of breakfast....

TADA~~

A nice serving of Chocolate Cinnamon French Toast and with it a cup of milk. Damn these things tastes SO GOOD especially in this weather!

No regrets waking up early today.. :)

Premier!

Before the premier....
Tonight is the night, where I get famous!!

As if...

Tonight is the night The Job premiers on national TV! 8 weeks of production and fun all boils down to this. It has finally hit us that, "Hey! The show is actually showing!"

Throughout the entire shooting process, it has never hit us that hard that we are actually going to be on TV! It was something that we talk about all the time but now that it is actually premièring, its exciting!!

I can't wait to see the results of Aaron's editing! Hoping that some footage are not used.....

*************************************

After the show....
It is UBER weird to see yourself on TV! I was just listening whenever I'm on. Haha! Its so cool though! Seeing everyone else on TV, its so different! We were all chatting about each other.

OMG they used the scenes where I did not want! There are soooo many other choices! Why show me playing the piano? Why show me blowing a kiss? Why why why??

OMG I'M ON TV!!!

HOLY MOTHER OF SWEET PEAS...

Catch the next episode and see what we did with Fly.fm! The Job airs Fridays, 9.30pm on 8TV.

Brunch

I decided to wake up early today to make some pancakes. I've been craving for them all night last night and why not wake up earlier and make them?

I woke up and realised that we do not have any flour at all!! THE HORROR!!! D:

Then I wanted to heat up some canned mushroom soup.

There was none of those either! There was no fucking food in the entire house!!

So I was looking around praying that there are sausages in the freezer. Best thing ever when I saw it hidden right that the back in the corner.

Decided to chop up some onions, beat some eggs and

VOILA!!

                                                          A nice brunch!

Blackpepper sausages cooked with sautéed onions, cinnamon french toast AND a nice cup of hazelnut white coffee...

Wait, I'm on TV?

Hell yeah I am!!

The promo video is on TV. Many told me about it but its the first time that I saw it myself! Its pretty fast. Its only 30s. BUT I manage to catch it on video! Not the best quality but who cares? So coooooooooool!!!

Here it is!! Copyrights to 8TV of course.. ;)

Its so fluffy I'm gonna die!!

My house has always been a choice for birds to nest. I have absolutely no idea why they like it here. I guess we have good feng shui?

This time I had the privilege to witness something that few have seen in their lives.

A baby bird learning to fly!

It was sooooo freaking adorable! The parents were jumping from branch to branch urging the little chick to try it out as well. One of them were like tugging on the feathers trying to arrange them properly? No idea. It was like they were talking...!

I couldn't get too close to snap the picture because the parents make this annoying sound that annoys the bejesus out of me.

So while the first chick was learning to fly, the second one was patiently waiting by the nest and I manage to snap a photo of it.

ITS SO FLUFFY!!!

Enough of the bird story...

Yesterday was also a day where I got so bored till I actually went for a lecture with a friend at Taylors. Learnt some Australian Tax. I've always been curious on how actual lectures happen. Being an ACCA student, it is pretty different. Sitting in that block lecture class, I thought the class was going on snail mode.

I guess being in ACCA we are so used to the fast pace lectures that these normal ones seem extraordinarily slow. It was pretty interesting! I was paying more attention to the lecturer than a few of my friends. I was even taking notes!

Benefits of having me in a lecture... Janice super genius! (Its a reference to Y.E. Coyote in case you don't have a childhood) ;)

Sweet mother of peanuts

One day, I am gonna be found dead in my room with an empty jar of peanut butter.

DEATH BY PEANUT BUTTER!

My love for that sinful food has grown to an insanely chart topping level and I am currently bribe-able by peanut butter!

The horror!

Lady Luck

I believe in luck a lot. That is the reason why I have a horseshoe pendant and a four-leave clover keychain.

Then I noticed how I am changing everything now. With the two phrases of my tattoo, it is like I am going against my believe. I am stuck in between 2 believes that I thought were very real in life. Luck may not be seen but I do believe that it is all around us. Some things are just based on luck.

But then again, I also believe that you have control over things in your life. You create your future with whatever choices you make in life. The good and the bad.

Great, now I am contradicting myself.

I guess luck is something that is in your hands as well. Luck is just something that creates opportunities for you in life and whether you want to listen to it or not it is still up to you. I think I am pretty lucky to be having so many choices in life. Too many that I don't know what to do with them....

I really need to get a job man. Sitting at home and blogging, aka talking to myself, will drive me insane one of these days.

Guide in life...

So today was my appointment for my very first tattoo!

Here it is!

It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would be. Pain was bearable and most importantly, I love it! Lina from Borneo Ink did an excellent job. I wanted it to be plain but Lina did her magic and added a tint of teal to it so that it wasn't so plain.

The tattoo has a great meaning to it. I did a lot of research to make sure it has one. The phrase, "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul" is telling me that what I do in life is my choice and I have control over it. The North Star is to guide my way through life and making sure I won't be lost.

Then it was a little meeting with Khailee. I guess I was pretty lucky to be able to speak to him face to face. The way he sees things are so different and its so interesting to listen to what he has to say.

So I told him my situation about being lost in life. Unsure of what I want to do with my future and stuff. He basically gave me a little "counselling" session. He shared his story on how he got here. The size of his vision was just huge! He knows what drives him and he just goes for it.

It was crazy. From what my subconscious self is telling me now, ACCA is definitely not the thing for me to do. Events might be insane and a risk and it depends on whether I am willing to take it. I might like it and I might not.

Then I can always go back to Segi where I will be working with Bruce and Shannon. I guess it wouldn't be that bad working with them there. Where and what I would be doing I'm not too sure yet but from what I realised talking to Khailee I do love challenges and changes but then I would like a certain amount of control as well.

There is also SAYS.com. I did love the week where I was executing the idea for SEGi's campaign and it was pretty awesome seeing how and what you did to be shown in numbers. How great just a simple idea and execution makes its way into people's daily lives.

I guess I've narrowed it down to either SEGi or SAYS. I still have no idea what drives me, I guess I will have to pick one and see which one is better. If you don't try, you'll never know...

The irony, as a friend pointed out, was that right after I got the tattoo, I had someone giving me advice on where to go in life. This north star shit is pretty serious man! Need to find my way soon. :)

The end and the beginning...

So it has been 8 weeks being in production and I must say that I had the time of my life. Come on, how often does one have the chance to be on a reality TV show? And I get to be on one where I met the best peoples in the world...

Yesterday was officially the end of everything and my very first Press Conference! :D

Excited like mad! It was the first time that we see the promo video for the show as well! Loved it. Kudos to Spaceboy Studios! :)

Its so funny how time passes by and now I am being lost once again on the road of life. I guess the show did made me realise some things and that I should just go with what I love and not be afraid to make mistakes.

Events here I come! ACCA, I'm sorry, you've been a pain studying. Its just that I am too crazy to be stuck in an office auditing documents after documents for the rest of my life. I just can't see myself doing that. Why not start doing what I love now? I am still going to do something different later on. Why not start now?

I'm made my decision and I'm going for it. 3 months is the time that I'll give myself to catch my dream.
